Join Jo Jago for a relaxed watercolour painting workshop where stress-free fun is the main aim. You will create watercolour greeting cards to take home & you'll be surprised at what you can achieve after just one workshop.
Jo will introduce you to watercolours in a fun & easy way and you'll learn lots of helpful hints & secrets that she has learned over the years. You can expect to leave with a huge grin on your face having had a fabulous time.
"Yes I can paint beautiful landscapes, and it is probably criminal not to living in Wanaka. But what I enjoy the most is painting things that are a little quirky and more illustration based. A space rocket, a steampunk scene with a rabbit underground having a birthday party or a dog with sunglasses on and other fun things. I love the joy on people's faces when they see my art in this style, young & old, as they are taken into a fun, playful world that takes them to a state of childhood happiness"
Jo Jago
This class is an ideal experience for newcomers. More experienced students are welcome, but the focus of these workshops is on the true beginner and those who may think "I could never paint with watercolour" or simply that they just can't paint at all.
Turn up ready to have a really enjoyable time, everything is provided for you including paints, paper, brushes and all other equipment and supplies. Why not bring a friend along too?!
Early bookings are ESSENTIAL as Jo's workshops sell out quickly. Classes are small to ensure personal attention for everyone. (Children are welcome, but recommended for ages 8 and up).
TICKET PRICING - PAY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD (PWYCA)
WHAT IS PWYCA? Pay what you can afford (PWYCA) is a not-for-profit pricing option that does not depend on set prices. Instead, it asks you, the purchaser, to pay what you can afford. It depends on reciprocity and trust to succeed. Tickets start at $20 for children/youth and $40 for adults. This is a heavily reduced price from the standard price of $100 per ticket. Please feel free to purchase your ticket(s) at the price you feel you can afford. Spectator tickets are available at no charge. Please note all child spectator tickets need to be accompanied by an adult spectator, and that spectator tickets do not include tuition or materials, it is just an opportunity to watch the workshop without being involved.
If everyone purchases their tickets at the low starting price Jo does not receive anything for teaching the classes. Whilst she is happy to do this for the local community, she does appreciate it if those who can afford to pay more than the minimum price pay anything from just a little more up to full price ($100 per person) for their tickets.
With your help, everybody wins! Jo would love to be able to bring you more workshops to the local community in the future and if you are able to purchase your tickets at more than the minimum price it makes future workshops more viable, and also shows the organizations who provide funding that community support is also behind the workshops.
A HUGE shout out of thanks goes to the Creatives in Communities Scheme from Creative New Zealand, administered by the Queenstown Lakes District Council, for their generous partial funding of these workshops, allowing Jo to run them at such a significantly reduced price.
Aside from spectators tickets, which are for those who would like to watch the art in creation but do not include tuition or materials, all other tickets include all materials, top-quality artist-grade paint, paper & consumables and all equipment you will need during your lesson.
ART FOR ALL - Jo is passionate about making art available to everyone, no matter what their financial position. For this reason, Jo has been the driving force in setting up Art for All, a not-for-profit group, with the goal of facilitating workshops for the community at a reduced cost. If you would like to support this not-for-profit venture or know more please contact Jo directly.
CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE are those aged 8 & over who are still at school or university. (School ID will be required at the start of the workshop for those aged 16 and older.)
